Joe discovered for himself the potent medium of Digital Art when he began experimenting, scanning his original photographs from around the world into his pc and sketching them - incorporating his digital art brush into his masterful compositions, re-creating and re-defining his now more unique brand of visual beauty. He began receiving recognition for his elaborate attention to detail and the achievement of such detail through the complex structure of computer imaging with no formal training. Digital Art is fast becoming the popular art of the 21st Century and through Joe’s knowledge of lighting and shadowing techniques as seen in his native art, photography, he has been able to inject in his new artform the warmth and beauty well known to more traditional art mediums. He has now focused his talents more exclusively on Charleston landmarks and her ever-evolving landscapes, based in part, upon some of his most cherished photographs of the Lowcountry area. He sees Charleston as "one of the most beautiful cities in the world where an artist's expressions can be best inspired and continually rediscovered beyond the realms of his own capabilities." What more could be desired of this City By the Sea? No doubt our Charleston Renaissance Artists of the past century asked it of themselves, and we, too, shall endeavor to find the answer for as long as time will allow.
